Solving for Today.
Preparing for Tomorrow.
We are in the midst of a busy fall conference season for healthcare IT. Conferences provide the opportunity for our team to re-connect with clients, provide updates on our latest solution offerings, and gain an appreciation for market intelligence, as we attempt to anticipate the needs of our clients in a shifting health IT space. This fall, we took the opportunity to exhibit and attend Becker’s Hospital Review 3rd Annual Health IT + Revenue Cycle Conference, Chilmark Research’s Inaugural Convergence Conference, and NEHIMSS Chapter HIE Advocacy Event. We documented our impressions and insights and invite you to review in the blogs that follow below. Key themes in each of the conferences were continued consolidation through M&A in both the vendor and provider space – driving data migration & archival needs, optimization of EMR/EHR to derive untapped productivity and efficiency increase - as well as to improve clinical quality, and deeper collaboration between providers, payers & employers as the consumer/member/patient bears an ever-increasing share of costs.
That said, conference season is not done yet. We will be attending the MEDITECH Physician and CIO Forum in Foxborough, MA 10/18-10/19, and the CHIME Fall CIO Forum in San Antonio on 10/31-11/3. We invite you to reach out to our team if you will be in attendance, as we would relish the opportunity for a meeting and/or a potential interview as part of our series. Lastly, we invite you to attend a complimentary webinar, hosted by healthsystemCIO, on 10/19 at 12PM EST: KLAS Reports: Implementation Services 2017: Which Firms Consistently Exceed Expectations? Report author, Garrett Hall, Research Director, Cybersecurity & Implementation Services, KLAS, will share what he found when delving into the data for the top purveyors of health IT implementation services.
Our Newsletter also reports on:
- Continuation of our CHIME Interview Series with Briand Sterud, VP of IT/CIO at Faith Regional Health Services and Todd Rogow, CHCIO, Senior VP & CIO, Healthix.
- Considerations and lessons learned from an Allscripts, McKesson & MEDITECH transition to Epic – legacy application support & data migration.
- Patient identification, patient matching, and the potential need for a national patient identifier.
I hope that you find this information helpful, and as always, we welcome your feedback.
